WHAT CAN HERBALISM DO FOR ME? Herbalism is a form of holistic health care that provides herbal, nutrition and lifestyle advice and recommendations. Herbalism does not diagnose health conditions but rather, assesses and recognises patterns unique to each individual, looking at the root causes that may be contributing to ill health and imbalances in mind, body and spirit. Herbalism is evidence-based and informed by generations of traditional use and knowledge of plant medicine. A range of health needs can be supported, including, but not limited to: Queer healthcare that is gender- and trans-affirming and trauma-informed Anxiety, depression, stress, PTSD and insomnia support, grief and loss (including climate grief) Sexual and intimate health including STIs, thrush and BV Immune and auto-immunity support Gut health including IBS, IBD, leaky gut, food sensitivities Harm-reduction substance use Chronic pain Post-infection recovery ie long-COVID, ME/CFS Acute respiratory illnesses Sports and injury recovery Skin conditions including psoriasis, eczema and acne Chronic health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and liver disease Generative health (also known as reproductive health) Endocrine and hormone health including thyroid health, PCOS, endometriosis, PMDD, PMS, period pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, perimenopause and menopause See Herbalism & What To Expect for more information.

HOW DO YOU SUPPORT MY HEALTHCARE RIGHTS? As a healthcare practitioner, I abide by the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights, which outlines healthcare consumer rights and practitioner obligations. I am a member of the New Zealand Association of Medical Herbalists (NZAMH), a professional association for Medical Herbalists in Aotearoa New Zealand, which advocates for the recognition and rights of the profession, and provides education and support for practitioners. As a member I have met the educational and training standards required of me and I continue to engage in regular professional mentoring and Continued Professional Development (CPD) to ensure my practice, knowledge and skills remain up-to-date.

WHAT LOCATIONS DO YOU SERVICE? Wānaka, Albert Town and Glendhu Bay Hāwea and Hāwea Flat Makarora Luggate Tarras Cardrona

WILL YOU DISPENSE A PRESCRIPTION FROM ANOTHER PRACTITIONER? Yes! I will fill herbal medicine prescriptions from another NZAMH or NMHNZ-member Medical Herbalist or Naturopath. As long as your prescription allows repeats, includes your name, the full name, business name and relevant Association member number of the prescribing practitioner, and you can provide photo ID, I will happily fill your prescription. Please note, as a Herbalist I can only prescribe and dispense herbal medicine and not nutritional supplements.

WHERE DO YOU SOURCE YOUR HERBS? The main online practitioner-only dispensaries I use are Integria and/or Phytomed, both highly reputable herbal manufacturers. I use liquid herbs from these suppliers in the individualised prescriptions I make, providing me access to a large range of herbs to choose from in formulating individual prescriptions. Currently this is more economical than holding a reduced-stock dispensary of my own where I would have a smaller range to choose from when making client prescription formulations. Herbal tablet and topical preparations are also sourced through Integria and/or Phytomed while dried herbs are sourced through The Apothecary in Christchurch.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Initial consultation appointment $120/90/60 Return consultation appointment $80/60/40 Prescription items pricing varies depending on the amount and type prescribed. Prices will be clearly noted on your invoice. Postage cost is in addition to consultation and prescription costs; this will be calculated at point of purchase and be included on your invoice. Card payments attract a surcharge, and are clearly shown at point of purchase. I use sliding scale for appointments, which is a self-selected price point depending on your access to financial means. For more information on choosing your sliding scale price point please click the Book an appointment button. Payments accepted include card, cash or bank transfer.

WHAT IS A SLIDING SCALE? A sliding scale is a tool of economic and social justice. It considers the socioeconomic factors and/or injustices that may enhance or inhibit one’s capacity to engage in services for financial exchange. Instead of having only one price point for services, a sliding scale offers multiple price point options, depending on one's circumstances; I use a three-point sliding scale. You self-determine where you fall on the scale; there is no judgement and no need to prove anything. When deciding where you fall on the scale, consider access to wealth, earning capacity, financial resources, privileges or barriers, and intersecting factors where racism, sexism, ageism, queerphobia, transphobia, class, ableism and other systemic and structural barriers impact access to equitable healthcare.

DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT PLANS? Yes! Payment plans are available for any price point on the sliding scale. Email me at info@leighdumpletonherbalism.nz to arrange a payment plan.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? All in-clinic appointments take place at Health2000 Wānaka, Helwick Street. Online appointments available Aotearoa-wide through the secure Cliniko platform. At-home appointments occur within the privacy of your own home.

WHEN ARE YOU OPEN? In-clinic appointments three Thursdays a month, 9am-1pm. At-home or online appointments one Thursday a month 9am-1pm, and every Friday 2pm-7pm. Contact me to discuss appointments outside of these times.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY PRESCRIPTION? For items dispensed directly by me, these items are usually dispensed within a few days of your appointment and posted out accordingly. Delivery times can vary; please refer to tracking information received after payment. For items dispensed through an online dispensary, delivery times can vary, depending on their payment, processing and postage timeframes.
